Tech:Phorge/Tasks

From WickedGov Meta-Wiki

On Phorge, tasks are how system administrators organize what needs to be done in the WickedGov technical world. Tasks are specific and well-structured. Anyone with a Phorge account can create them.

Creating a task edit source

You can use this form to create a generic task, or this one to report a security vulnerability that should be kept private.

Task properties edit source

Status edit source

Status is pretty self-explanatory—it's what is happening with the task at the moment.

Statuses for open tasks edit source

Open
The task is currently unsolved and needs attention. It would be helpful if someone worked on the task.
Stalled
The task is unsolved but cannot currently be worked on due to a number of possible reasons, such as unsolved prerequisite tasks or questions for the task creator.
In progress
Someone is actively working on the task.

Statuses for closed tasks edit source

Resolved
The task has been completed.
Declined
The task was not and will not be completed. This could be due to a number of reasons, such as inability to reproduce the problem, unresolvable missing information, or a sysadmin consensus that the task is a bad idea.
Invalid
The task is outside the scope of WickedGov systems administration (such as bugs in underlying third-party software) or cannot be undertaken for legal reasons.
Duplicate
The task has been merged into a similar task.

Priority edit source

Despite its name, the task priority is not actually a measurement of how important something is, but of how quickly it is likely to be worked on by members of the technical community. Therefore, please don't be offended if we assign your task as a low priority—it doesn't mean you're not important!

There are five task priority levels:

Unbreak Now!
This level is reserved for issues that imminently and critically threaten the uptime of core WickedGov services or pose an immediate risk of data loss or a serious security breach. Very few tasks are assigned this priority level.
High
This level is for tasks which are not emergencies, but are still top priorities for WickedGov system administration. Generally, these tasks will have implications for the entire WickedGov farm (rather than just one community or niche) or are prerequisites for other tasks being completed.
Medium
This is the "normal" priority level for tasks that are a top concern of local communities but perhaps are not movement-wide in nature or otherwise do not warrant an assessment of "High."
Low
These tasks might have some low-to-moderate level of community backing, but they are not urgent, nor are they prerequisites for other urgent tasks.
Lowest
This is the priority level for minor improvement requests and tweaks (i.e. "It would be nice if we had..."). It is not for requests that have received community backing.
Needs Triage
No priority has yet been assigned. It's okay to set this priority when creating a task if you don't know what to set the priority to.
