User groups on Meta give additional local privileges to users. They apply only on Meta.
Administrators edit source
Administrators are trusted users who have several additional technical abilities, such as blocking users and deleting pages. This group can be assigned by bureaucrats and removed by Stewards.
Autopatrolled edit source
Autopatrolled users have their changes automatically marked as patrolled. They gain no other privileges.
Administrators have this privilege automatically. This group can be assigned and removed by administrators.
Autoconfirmed users edit source
Autoconfirmed users can edit semi-protected pages and are considered "trusted" by the software in certain ways. Users are automatically autoconfirmed with a 3-day-old account and 5 edits. This group cannot be manually assigned.
Confirmed users edit source
This group is identical to the "autoconfirmed" group, except that it can be manually assigned and removed by administrators.
IP block exemptions edit source
Users in the IP block exemptions group can bypass automatic and manual blocks of IP addresses. Administrators have this privilege automatically. This group can be assigned and removed by administrators.
Account creators edit source
Account creators can create many accounts without rate limits. Administrators have this privilege automatically. This group can be assigned and removed by bureaucrats.
Bots edit source

Bots are automated processes whose edits are hidden from Special:RecentChanges by default. This group can be assigned and removed by bureaucrats.
Bureaucrats edit source

Bureaucrats have the technical ability to change membership in certain groups. The bureaucrat group can be assigned by other bureaucrats and removed by Stewards.
Interface administrators edit source
Interface administrators are highly trusted users with the technical ability to edit sitewide CSS and JavaScript pages. This group can be assigned and removed by Stewards.
Checkusers edit source
Checkusers have local access to the CheckUser tool. Use of CheckUser is governed by the CheckUser policy. This group can be assigned and removed by Stewards.
Suppressors edit source
Suppressors have local access to the suppression tool. Use of suppression is governed by the suppression policy. This group can be assigned and removed by Stewards.
Transwiki importers edit source
Transwiki importers can import pages from certain other wikis. Administrators have this privilege automatically. This group can be assigned and removed by bureaucrats.
XML importers edit source
XML importers can import pages from certain other wikis and from arbitrary XML files. This group can be assigned and removed by Stewards.
