Transwiki importers are users on local wikis that have access to Special:Import, allowing them to import pages from certain other wikis. They do not have the ability to import files by XML file upload—that permission is restricted to XML importers.

Administrators have all transwiki importer permissions and do not need to request this permission.

Access edit

Bureaucrats edit

On wikis with local bureaucrats, bureaucrats are responsible for granting and removing the transwiki importer group according to local policy.

Stewards edit

On wikis without bureaucrats, or where all bureaucrats are inactive, Stewards are responsible for managing transwiki importer access.

To obtain access, users should first post to a centralized forum on the local wiki, following local policies if they exist. Wait at least 7 days to allow discussion, then make a request at Stewards/Requests/Permissions. Be sure to provide a link to the local discussion. A Steward will grant access if there was consensus or if no objections were raised.
