Bureaucrats on Meta are privileged users with the technical ability to:
- Add the administrator and bureaucrat groups
- Add and remove the bot, translation administrator, account creator, and transwiki importer groups
These actions can only be taken according to consensus. In the case of assigning administrator permissions, a discussion must have taken place on the community portal.
There is currently 1 bureaucrat on Meta. If there are no bureaucrats, or if all bureaucrats are inactive, bureaucrat roles are performed by Stewards.
