Bureaucrats on Meta are privileged users with the technical ability to:
- Add the administrator and bureaucrat groups
- Add and remove the bot, translation administrator, interface administrator, account creator, and transwiki importer groups
These actions can only be taken according to consensus. In the case of assigning administrator, translation administrator, interface administrator, or bureaucrat permissions, a discussion must have taken place at Meta:Requests for permissions.
There is currently 1 bureaucrat on Meta. If there are no bureaucrats, or if all bureaucrats are inactive, bureaucrat roles are performed by Stewards.
