Global locks

Global locks are a way by which Stewards can technically prevent WickedGov accounts logging in on all projects. Global locks are generally applied to cross-wiki vandalism-only accounts, spam-only accounts, long-term abuser sockpuppet accounts, and compromised accounts. The locking interface also offers the option of suppressing the account name in all logs, for usernames that are harassing or offensive or that reveal inappropriate personal information.

• If you are globally locked (for reasons other than being compromised), you should appeal by emailing stewardswickedgov.org

Criteria

Global locks are implemented by Stewards at their discretion. Global locks are globally-set actions that lock a user out of their account and do not permit local projects to place exemptions. These are preferred over global blocks in cases where:

1. the likelihood of a successful appeal is low given the severity of abuse, and the Stewards would be best suited to handle the appeal privately, or
2. when the user should be locked out of their account, such as due to account compromise or if the user has become deceased.

The following list identifies common reasons for global locks:

• Accounts that have been used for vandalism or abuse on multiple wikis or obviously are otherwise being disruptive on multiple wikis.
• Abusive sockpuppet accounts used or expected to be used on multiple wikis.
• Accounts whose only intent is to spam on WickedGov wikis.
• Accounts whose names are manifestly offensive or abusive (these accounts may be hidden from logs as well).
• Accounts that have seriously violated basic principles, such as:
  • Publishing child sexual abuse material.
  • Engaging in hateful or otherwise especially severe vandalism. Note that test edits and childish vandalism are not necessarily grounds for a global lock.
  • Making threats of harm against others or encouraging violence.
  • Persistently/severely harassing others, including off-wiki harassment.
  • Posting private personal information about others which may endanger them.
• Accounts that are suspected to have been compromised.
• Accounts belonging to users that have been globally banned.
• Accounts that have been created to evade a global block, global lock, or global ban.
• Accounts that impersonate others.
• Accounts whose owners are known to be deceased.
• Accounts belonging to former staff members or contractors.
• Accounts that have been vanished.
